Creative 3-Tier Layer Frock Design for Babies with Shoulder Strips | Easy Step-by-Step Tutorial
Welcome back to Creative Craft Studio! In today’s video, I’ll show you how to make a beautiful striped 3-layer baby frock that’s both elegant and easy to stitch. Whether you’re sewing for your little one or for gifting, this design is perfect for any occasion. Let’s begin this fun and stylish sewing journey together!
Materials Required:
- Cotton fabric with stripes – 1.25 meters (approx.)
- Lining fabric (optional) – 0.75 meters
- Matching thread
- Fabric scissors
- Measuring tape
- Chalk or fabric marker
- Elastic (for waist, optional)
- Sewing machine
- Iron
Steps Overview:
1. Measurement & Marking:
- Take standard measurements for baby frock (chest, waist, length).
- Mark the top bodice and each of the 3 layers using chalk.
2. Cutting the Bodice & Layers:
- Cut out front and back bodice pieces from striped fabric.
- Cut 3 increasing-width strips for each layer with desired gathers.
3. Stitching the Bodice:
- Join front and back at the shoulders.
- Add facing or lining if needed.
4. Preparing the Layers:
- Hem the bottom of each strip layer.
- Gather the top edges for a flared effect.
5. Joining Layers:
- Attach the gathered strips to each other starting from the bottom.
- Attach all layers to the bottom of the bodice.
6. Final Stitching & Finishing:
- Stitch the sides of the frock.
- Attach back opening (button or zip).
- Iron the frock for a clean and polished finish.
